New Oxford Consort returns to Chagford and Gidleigh with this concert in Chagford and a Sung Eucharist in Gidleigh on Sunday 22nd.
Concert tickets are £10 (U16 £5) and will be available nearer the time from Sally's Newsagents, or on the door. Proceeds from the concert will be used to make a donation to St Michael's, Chagford, and the remainder will go towards the New Oxford Consort's future projects.
Founded and directed by Freddie Crowley, the New Oxford Consort is a vocal ensemble comprising some of the finest young singers from Oxford and beyond. The singers are drawn from a pool of young professionals in the early stages of their singing careers, including alumni choral scholars of Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Royal Holloway and Manchester universities, as well as London conservatoires.
The New Oxford Consort made its debut performance to a packed Chagford church last September, singing a wide range of music by composers including Palestrina, Tallis, Parry and Ešenvalds. Since then, the group has made several more appearances in Devon and further afield, including engagements at the St Boniface Concert Society and the King's Lynn Festival. The group looks forward to upcoming performances for Music@Wellhayes, near Tiverton, and a Christmas concert at the Borough Theatre, Abergavenny, in December.
The concert in Chagford on Saturday 21st September will also act as the launch event for the choir's new "Friends" scheme, including a pre-concert reception for all new Friends (if you would like more information on becoming a Friend of the New Oxford Consort, please visit newoxfordconsort.co.uk and/or contact Freddie on firstname.lastname@example.org).
There will also be a bar in the church after the concert.
