A Gidleigh Village Hall Social evening, to which everyone is welcome, not just Gidleigh residents.
The evening will start at 7.30 pm with a rare showing of the wonderful film 'The Dartmoor Entertainers' which was made for Westward Television, at Gidleigh Village Hall, in 1979. Performers include Bob Cann, Will Hannaford and Jimmy Cooper, Ned and Martha, Gordon Ching, Dave Alford, The Kelly Quarry Blasters, Charlie Hill, Les Rice and Jack Rice and there are interviews with Monica Alford and Frank Webber. Many Gidleigh and Throwleigh residents appear in the audience and dancing to the music of the Pixie Band.
The film will be followed by music and dancing with the Jayne Boswell Band interspersed with some songs and other acts... if anyone would like to provide their own party piece, please contact Bill Murray on 01647 231297.
Bring along your friends. With fair weather we can open the doors, spill out onto the lawn and watch the stars come out. There will be a bar and a raffle but you are welcome to bring along your own refreshments, musical instruments and raffle prizes if you wish. You will have a day to recover before we beat the bounds of the parish on Monday 27th August.
